WHO IS Bobby Mardis?
Bobby is a Filmmmaker’s filmmaker who is experienced in all phases of production.
Bobby entered the entertainment industry in Los Angeles where after college, he went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena. He needed exposure, so he practiced stand-up comedy in clubs around Southern Cal. Because he sang as well, he would perform comedy nightly in comedy clubs for pennies on the dollar and then change clothes out of the trunk of his car, to sing in musical clubs on the same night. At that time, he was doing well if he made at least twenty-five, to a hundred dollars a night. Bobby quickly learned that in order to control your financial fate, you had to shoot your own projects. During his grinding days in Hollywood, he would hang out at Samuel French book store on Sunset reading books until they would kick him out. When he could purchase the books, he would walk to get his exercise while reading them to kill two birds with one stone. Little did he know that the days of pounding the pavement in Hollywood would build the skills he uses today.

Bobby Mardis is a writer, director, producer and author!
For the last 40 years Bobby Mardis has been an independent filmmaker creating content for all platforms. What ever you are looking to produce, Bobby can work with you in a number of capacities from consulting to hands-on production. Bobby also focuses on stories for children in the literary and short form media . He is now making it happen in Atlanta, Georgia by working with other filmmakers producing content.
Bobby met Robert Townsend and Keenen Ivory Wayan at the stand-up comedy clubs performing. He knew that molding solid relationships were the key to success. One day Robert gave him a call and asked him to play a role in the cult classic, “Hollywood Shuffle.” He studied Robert’s filming methodology, got small parts in films and television and kept watching and learning. Bobby would sit with the crew at lunch and ask seemingly stupid questions until he learned the intricacies of every crew job. He worked in various crew positions from stand-in, P.A., grip, transportation, music supervisor, production coordinator and any job so he could get to continue his on-the-job education. There were no “shit jobs” too insignificant for him to tackle, or parts too small for him to take as long as he could learn something as part of his foundational experience.
Bobby gathered every dime he could until he was ready to shoot. He even cashed out his 401k to shot his first film called, “Why Color,” which ended up on Showtime. After that, the ball was rolling and he became a working craftsman in Hollywood. But don’t get it twisted, the ups and downs were plenty and the multi-tasking from “artist to filmmaker,” continued for years. The key to his success is staying grounded and realizing that ever penny he made was a blessing! He often speaks to young actors and filmmakers giving back the information that makes the circle complete. “Much is expected of those that much is given!”
Bobby has always been aggressive at getting jobs and finding work within the independent world because of his relentless work ethic. Jumping in and delivery quality work has always kept him working!
Bobby is experienced in all phases of production from development to delivery.
Bobby’s specialty is creating content in written and visual forms. As a performer he is tapped into the energy and intuition of pulling the best performances from talent to document those magic moments for the big screen, television, or stage.

His current project can also be found by going to www.angelsofhopefilms.com. this project helps women, children and young girls who have found themselves victimized by trafficking. Your help will supply food, clothing, shelter and mental health services to the victims.
Once the films are completed, you can also help by streaming the films much like you would do Netflix, Apple or Amazon.com to consume programming.
We also have a program where you can help by connecting us with brokers, consultants and finders of production funds. They have traditionally led us to investors who fund the projects. There will be six films that are all narrative features that will thrill, entertain and be used to help ten nonprofits.
