Bobby Mardis Biography

Meet Bobby Mardis, a multi-talented filmmaker and writer who uses his craft to make a positive impact on society. With a passion for comedy and social consciousness, Bobby has produced and directed numerous projects that have left a lasting impression on audiences. From directing the Latin sitcom pilot, “X & L Customs,” to producing the socially conscious concert film “The Silence is Broken,” which features a 60 piece orchestra Loretta Divine, Jennifer Holiday, T.C. Carson and a host of other talented professonals. Bobby is committed to using his talents to make a difference with creating the most compelling content.

Bobby’s passion for music shines through in his underground music documentary, “Beats by the Bay,” which showcases the independent hip-hop and rap scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has also created a jazz project, “Passing the Torch,” which highlights the tradition of passing down the art of jazz from one generation to the next. This twenty-year project features over 200 legendary jazz musicians, including Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Lionel Hampton, and more.

Bobby has also made a name for himself in the commercial world, producing EPKs, commercials, music videos, and industrial projects for Fortune 500 companies such as Nike, Infiniti, and AXA Financial. He has even directed the DGA tribute to Richard Pryor and Maya Angelou and acted in Robert Townsend’s projects, including “Hollywood Shuffle” and the HBO series “Robert Townsend and his Partners in Crime.”

Bobby’s ultimate goal is to create projects that make a difference in the world while also providing entertaining programming. He has produced award-winning films for AXE Fragrance, directed the “Be Well” health campaign for Black women in California, and even completed a script for the World Basketball Association and Nike. With his diverse portfolio and unrelenting drive, Bobby is poised to make greater strides in the film industry in the years to come. Literary Biography

Bobby Mardis, who was originally a native of Hammond Indiana, got his stripes from Los Angeles, wrote books and scripts in San Francisco and is now working in Atlanta. He is both a member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA), as well as the Writers Guild of America (WGA). Bobby is a product of UCLA and USC, where he studied communication and advertising. He also studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. During the 30+ years that Bobby has been in the entertainment industry, he has worked on over three hundred projects, in various capacities, which has resulted in making him an extremely, knowledgeable and well-rounded filmmaker.

 

Bobby first book is called, “Never Give Up,” which gives children the inspiration to keep going, no matter what! He has written another book catered to 6th and 7th graders, which is called, “Journey to Green City” and features the STEM subject matters of sustainable energy and green technology.  His book on of a similar subject matter is called, “My Trip to Green City,” which demographic includes students in grades 3rd, 4th and 5th.  During the COVID-19 lockdown he completed three books in the “Adventures with Mr. Steve” series. One called, “The Lost Year,” about children dealing with Covid-19 and the lock down. The other one is “The Big Shift,” which addresses the George Floyd uprising that gives children a better understanding of their history and why the protests are occurring.

 

He is completing a called, “The Truth,” which spotlights Black history from an African perspective. This book was designed to encourage readers on how to maintain their greatness, find their life’s purpose and ultimately change their mindset to be more productive.  Mardis has a number of other books such as “There Comes a Time,” and “The Graduation Manifesto,” which is both inspirational in nature and in the release pipeline.
